Write up of 'Weird Science'

Weird Science Summary 
Weird science is an American Sci-fi comedy teen-film which contains two nerdy high schoolers who are the the protagonists of the teen film. The two characters named Gary Wallace and Wyatt Donnelly are outcasts in there highchool. Different to everyone else, Garry and Wyatt were addicted to science. In order to fit in with everyone else, Gary and Wyatt used their computers to magically bring to life a stunning beautiful woman who is devoted to them in everything that they do. The stunning woman named Lisa had special
powers which allowed her to favor the two nerds in all situations. The teen film ended with the two nerds being the most desired kids in there school.

The Plot 
The plot in Weird science focuses mainly on alienation of the two characters and how they over come alienation. The overcome this by having a high-school party where everyone was invited. This rose their popularity by an substantial amount.

In Weird science the main classical conventions which show in the teen-film are:

The Jock/s
An american stereotype of a teenage male. The stereotype is also an predominate athlete. Furthermore, the stereotype is also seen as the 'popular kid' in the high school setting. In weird science the Jocks are two good looking school kids with elements which represents them as Jock's for example:

  • Nice gelled hair
  • fashionable clothes 
  • Good looking 
  • status/ socially accepted  
  • Popularity 



The Nerd's/ Outcasts
The nerd is a american stereotype of a unattractive, un-humorous, dis-likable teenager who is really intact with education. Nerds are seen as outcasts as they are un-fashionable and do not fit in with the schools norms. In weird Science the Nerds are the main protagonists in the teen-drama. They also have elements which represents them as Nerds for example:

  • Unattractive
  • Unfashionable
  • Low self esteem 
  • Unaccepted in School
  • Ridiculously Smart
