Gary and Wyatt,two desperate boys studying at a high school in Chicago this is where they often lack popularity and find it very hard to be accepted by their fellow peers.the two boys have the house free for the weekend this gives them a strange idea to then create a "perfect" women on their computer screen.A beautiful women who they name Lisa who they admire puts them on a mission which involves boisterous obstacles that will help them to act like men.This helps the frequent humor that this movie presents.
weird science is a typical fun teen movie as it contains many hilarious moments and features the different stereotypes of subcultures that lie in high school movies.such as;
the popular "hot" girl who everybody fancies.these stereotypes grab teenagers attention especially to teen boys and also girls.
the unpopular boys.these can also be seen as the nerds that not many people like that funnily enough add humor to the movie.
finally the "good looking" boys who the majority of the time end up with the good looking girls like Lisa.these most of the time are the bullies.
Another reason as to why this is a typical teen film is because the settings are the same in most teen movies such as the school hallway and the bedroom.
As well as humor there is also violence that occurs in this teen movie.this makes it particularly appealing to teenage boys.
overall this film is appealing to both teenage girls and boys because of the elements of violence,drama,romance which make the film humorous.this film also appeals to adults even though the target audience isn't this is because people like to watch films teen films as its relatable and sympathetic in some ways for example aspects like bullying ,school and popularity which most people can relate to at least 1 of these.
