Weird Science
Two unpopular teenagers, Gary and Wyatt, fail at all attempts to be accepted by their peers. Their desperation to be liked leads them to "create" a woman via their computer. Their living and breathing creation is a gorgeous woman, Lisa, whose purpose is to boost their confidence level by putting them into situations which require Gary and Wyatt to act like men. On their road to becoming accepted, they encounter many hilarious obstacles, which gives the movie an overall sense of silliness.
Weird science is a typical teen movie because it contains all the features of a typical teenage movie. For example, there were the the non popular boys:
and of course the popular boys, in this case, also the bullies:
and there's the "hot" popular girls, which in the end, they end up with:
There is also themes of action and violence in the movie, which makes it appealing to boys as well as girls. Another subgenre of the movie is fantasy, when these unhumanly creatures appear to crash their party.
Overall, Weird science appeals to the teenage audience because it has elements of romance, action, and fantasy and is very relatable as it involves issues such as popularity, school, bullying, school & science.
