Not Another Teen Movie
At John Hughes High School, the popular jock, Jake, takes a bet from Austin, the cocky blonde guy, that he can transform Janey, the pretty ugly girl, into the prom queen before the prom. But two people are trying to stop Jake from succeeding: his evil sister, Catherine, the cruelest girl in school, and Priscilla, the bitchy cheerleader. And all of their friends are the same as any other teen movie: Areola, the naked foreign exchange student, Les, the beautiful weirdo, Malik, the token black guy, the desperate virgins, Amanda Becker, the perfect girl, Ricky, Janey's obsessed best friend, and Sadie, the VERY old undercover reporter.
Not Another Teen Movie was the perfect movie to find
typical teen stereotypes from because it contains all of
the teenage characters that you would find in any other
teen movie.
A stereotype is assuming that all members of a certain group of people
share the same characteristics. For example, that all blondes are dumb.
In Not Another Teen Movie,
The Token Black Guy
He is the likeable character that is never the center of attention.
His costume is non threatening and laid back to show that he is
not a threat or important.
A character similar to The Token Black Guy can also be found in a teen sitcoms/series called 'That's So Raven' known as Eddy.
The character 'Zeke' in HSM is also similar to the token black guy.
The Covent Girl
Often has very revealing costume, such as, short skirts & low cut/crop tops. She is very promiscuous, contradictory to her name "the covent" girl because she is everything but religious. She is often pretty & meant to be holy etc.
Similar character can be found in "Mean Girls"
The Jock
The sporty athletic guy, usually very popular and well known and liked by everyone in the school. The Jock is usually wearing athletic clothes, such as basketball jerseys or jogging bottoms.
The Jock can be found in so many teen movies & I think is the most commonly used character in teen movies. The Jock can be found in "Mean Girls", "John Tucker Must Die", "High School Musical" & many other teen movies.
The Geek
The geek's costume often consists of glasses, high trousers that show his ankles, out of date shoes & clothes & often is ill or is always sniffling. The geek is usually small in size and/or underdeveloped. Usually boys but can be girls too.
Can be found in "Geek Charming", "Mean Girls", "High School Musical 3"
