Save The Last Dance
'Save the last dance' is a film about a girl called Sara who's mother has passed away and her dream is to become a ballerina. Sara then falls in love with a black boy called Derek who has a rough semi-criminal past. This film is targeted at teenagers with a passion for dance and music who also enjoy love stories, both females and males, as the two main characters are two different genders. The movie is a Drama-Music-Romance, which can appeal to a wider audience due to its cross-genre.
Julia Stiles who plays Sara has also been in several other films including '10 things I hate about you' which is also another teen movie with a romantic storyline but different to 'Save the last dance', and with a cross-genre of Comedy-Drama-Romance.
Scary Movie
Scary movie is a comedy about a group of teenagers who accidentally hit a man when driving, and now they are stalked by a very recognisable masked killer. This movie is aimed at a teenage audience above the age of 18 and who also enjoy films with a comedy genre, as this movie is about teenagers themselves.
The stars of 'Scary movie', Anna Faris and Jon Abrahams have also been known to perform in other films with a genre of Comedy-Drama. This can appeal to a wider audience as they have previously been seen in a film with a similar genre to 'Scary movie.' The idea of the stars being from two different genders appeals to both males and females.
The Notebook
'The Notebook' is a film about a unwealthy boy who doesn't get accepted by a girls parents that he falls in love with. The film deals with social differences and decision making. This can appeal to an audience that is interested in how social differences can effect your life. The movie is a drama-romance which appeals to people that enjoy romantic stories. It is also aimed at both males and females as the two main characters are of two different genders.
