Q.2:How does your media product present different social groups

http://slide.ly/view/cbb38a4c44516641101a6df6834b42f3

Representation:representation is the description or portrayal of someone or something in a particular way.in our film T.E.A.M its stereotypes.Above i have created a slidely of the different stereotypes of teen characters that we have used in our own teen film opening.
In our teen film, T.E.A.M, we have represented the different social groups of:.The Princessshe is a typical girly girly who is often presented as rich who enjoys make up and glamour.I teen movies she often gets her own way..The Nerd:Someone who has an extreme passion for education who dresses in a formal way who is often an outcast to the rest of the characters..The Jock:The popular college student, who plays a lot of sport and gets a lot of female attention..The Criminal:The dysfunctional student who often gets into a lot of trouble who also forms a subculture of anti school. We have followed the typical conventions in our teen movie we have tried to portray these stereotypes as well as we could.
THE PRINCESS
The princess in our teen film movie in my opinion is presented negatively. This is because of the stereotype of  popular/princess girls are portrayed as stuck up in the majority of teen film movies for example in mean girls. They often are in close up shots and full body shots in my opinion this is to emphasis that they are important in the film but also to present how they feel about themselves. In our teen film we have tried to portray this as our princess is given airtime in a close up shot fixing her hair and putting on her makeup.Being vain and stuck up also relates to how 'princesses' are seen in real life for example models are seen as naive and vain for having an interest in fashion and makeup.

(character fixing her hair making sure she looks perfect)
Mean girls princess portrayed as selfish and only thinks about herself.

THE JOCK
The jock in our teen movie well also in most teen film movies are represented positively. In our teen movie the jock wakes up besides a girl ,lives in a nice house and also has a car. This shows that the jocks are the popular characters who have luxuries and generally just enjoying life.In most teen movies this is how jocks are portrayed and also liked by everyone. In society jocks are also popular in schools and also in the public eye which in my opinion is why many boys aspire to be a footballer or basketball player when they grow up wearing nice clothes, living in fancy houses with a unbelievable salary and also having wags and plenty of girl attention.Jocks also are costumed in bright colours most of the time and is in our teen film opening,we did this to show that he is happy and enthusiastic by his costume allowing the body language and facial expressions to prove this also.

THE CRIMINAL

The criminal is represented as both a negative and positive character. They are represented as bad as they are always up to mischief and hurt the innocent which turns the audience against them with full empathy towards the victims such as in kidulthood when the criminal stole the boys gameboy it turned viewers against the baddy. However, sometimes in films there are deep reasoning as to why criminals do what they do which makes the audience feel sympathetic for the criminal. For example in out teen movie the criminal lost his parents at a very young age which obviously still affects him.He is growing up in  an unloved home so he does what he can to get by  eg steals from the shop.Society has many criminals within it that do what they have to do to get by for example homeless people steal. This doesn't justify that you should commit crimes but sometimes there are underlying issues other than just being selfish.

 THE NERD

The nerd in most teen films are unfortunately portrayed negatively.Especially in our teen movie for example the nerds scene were comical which gave something for everybody to laugh at.In society nerds who enjoy school who have a more enthusiastic approach to education than others are laughed at and seen as uncool.in our teen film opening i think we have presented this well. Also through the use of costume and body language helped us majorly for the humorous response. For example our nerd was given a pink stripy shirt to wear with shiny black pointed shoes.we also conveyed that having an interest in  means you are clumbsy for example the nerd fell off his bike in our teen movie. Also in not another teen movie the nerds are represented as a laughing stock shown through there scruffiness and body language.
