Q7. Looking back at your you preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
In media I incorporated a preliminary task based on a chosen script. During the preliminary I had limited skills and ideas to make the script better. However also in media I also incorporated a full product. From the preliminary task to the full product I have learnt a lot of skills and developed techniques in all aspects such as pre production- post production.
Pre- Production
The area of pre production which i am going to talk about is the storyboard. This was my story for my prelim task.
This is my full product for an item for my pre production work which is my storyboard.
In comparison to my prelim storyboard there are many differences which shows that I have improved my pre production skills such as:
- Better drawing
- More detail
- More shots in comparison to Prelim
- Storyboard visually detailed
- Range of shots
- Mise en scene such as costume; identified in storyboard
In these Camtasia videos, I am comparing the quality of my full product and my prelim explaining what I learned and how I learned it

http://slide.ly/view/cbb38a4c44516641101a6df6834b42f3
Representation:representation is the description or portrayal of someone or something in a particular way.in our film T.E.A.M its stereotypes.Above i have created a slidely of the different stereotypes of teen characters that we have used in our own teen film opening.
In our teen film, T.E.A.M, we have represented the different social groups of:.The Princessshe is a typical girly girly who is often presented as rich who enjoys make up and glamour.I teen movies she often gets her own way..The Nerd:Someone who has an extreme passion for education who dresses in a formal way who is often an outcast to the rest of the characters..The Jock:The popular college student, who plays a lot of sport and gets a lot of female attention..The Criminal:The dysfunctional student who often gets into a lot of trouble who also forms a subculture of anti school. We have followed the typical conventions in our teen movie we have tried to portray these stereotypes as well as we could.

Question 7
T.E.A.M:
Prelim:
Now, as you can tell, there is a lot of difference between the two. In the prezi, I will explain what the differences are and why there has been such an improvement between the prelimary exercise and our final teen film.
Question 5 - How did you attract/address your audience?
Many aspects of our film appeal to the target audience because we focused on conventions to ensure the target audience would be able to relate and connect with the characters in our film.
As we have a lot of money towards our production because of our production and distribution, we would be able to hire high profile actors to play our characters. This would draw a lot of attention to our film and would result in a lot of free promotion. For example, fans of the high profile actress we would hire would discuss her newest projects with friends and family and other fans which would promote our film even further.
Our storyline tackles many issues are there are different characters that have different stories that will all come together, this is interesting for everyone. For example, throughout the film we will unravel the reason behind the crimes for the criminal, which will be heartfelt and hard-hitting whilst we see the Nerd growing up and getting into his first relationship, which is comical. As there are many different sub-genres and themes, such as comedy, drama, romance; everyone can relate to and enjoy the film therefore will attract more people.
The production company will also help attract an audience as it is large and produces many mainstream and well known movies, so people will be able to put their trust in the production company and therefore watch our film. Whereas, on the other hand, if it was a smaller production company, people may be hesitant to watch their films as they may have never seen a film made by them before and therefore have not put their trust in them yet.
Our roughcut feedback helped us improve our film to ensure it was aimed at the target audience, for example, making the storyline complex but not complicated or confusing because teenagers want to enjoy the film, and not have to think about or process everything. This will make it easier to attract an audience as it won't be hard to explain the storyline when people share it with their friends, so people will be more likely to be interested in our film.
We will be able to reach our audience by different forms of media because of the amount of money that was put into our media product because we used a big production company. Such as: Social networking: facebook, twitter, tumblr.
- Tabloid articles
- YouTube advertising
- TV advertising
- Bus and other transport advertising.
Question 4 - Who would be the audience for your media product?
A teen film is a film genre targeted at teenagers and young adults in which the plot is based upon the special interests of teenagers. So does that mean our audience would only be teenagers? People aged 13-17?
Usually, the target audience for teen films would be teenagers. The sub-genre, however, can change the target age for example, if it was teen drama, that usually narrows it down to teens however if it was teen comedy, that usually broadens the audience as people can still find something, whether it is targeted at teens or not. This is what our media product is.
Yes, our audience for our media product would include teenagers. This is because our storyline appeals to teenagers and cover relatable issues. Such as, the topic of 'rebellion' through the character of the criminal, who rebels against society while committing all his crimes (Marcus). The topic of 'coming of age' through 'the Jock' (Tommy) who sleeps around a lot and is sexually active. The idea of 'Alienation' is covered by the nerd (Edward), as he is the only one who has such a passion for school, and he is misunderstood, as noone can understand why. In addition, the idea of glamour and beauty is covered by The Princess (Amy).
Our media product is not gender specific and both genders will be able to watch it and enjoy. This is because of the comedy within the product, everyone will find it funny. And because there are elements that both genders will enjoy, for example, the sports and especially the character of the Jock for the males, and females can relate to the character of the princess, because she is into fashion and beauty.
Our media product is not area specific, most people go to school/college worldwide, and although schools everywhere differ, they will still find it comedic.
In addition to teenagers being the audience, some adults aged 20-50 may be the audience for our media project. This is because they may be accompanying their teenage friends/children/relatives when going to see our media project. To add to that, adults may watch this simply because they want to laugh, as although it is relatable to teens, it's not necessary that you have to be a teenager to watch and understand it. Our media project may also be a reminder to adults of the childhood they had, or their school years.
Pre-teens, people aged 10-12, may also be the target audience for our media product as there's not much strong language, scenes of nudity or violence that will stop them from watching it. Pre-teens may be interested in our media product because they may be curious of what teenage life is like, as it soon approaching for them.
This is 'Ian Beale' a character from a soap opera called 'Eastenders'. He would be the audience for this film because his children were watching it or because he wanted to reminisce on the times he was young. He is middle aged, around 40's/50's. He works multiple jobs and has children.
This is a character from Kidulthood. He would be the audience for our media product as he falls into the typical age range for teen films, eg, around 17 and because he is a student in school himself. In the film aswell, he was also involved in crime, so he could identify strongly with the character of the criminal.
This is 'Tiffany', a character from 'Eastenders'. She would be the audience for our film because she is a pre-teen, around 11 and is starting to grow out of children's cartoons etc and starts to wonder what college life is like.
