Trailers -Explain Target Audiences

Post three trailers and explain the target audience

KiDULTHOOD: KiDULTHOOD is A day in the life of a group of troubled 15-year-olds growing up in west London. The storyline mainly focuses on two characters who are 'Trife' and 'Alyssa'. The two characters focus on how life is for the both boys and girls their age. The potential target audience for this film is all teenagers however it is a direct age category which is 15 year olds due to the fact that most of the teenagers in the film are 15. Another potential target audience of this film may be people from ethnic backgrounds such as Afro black, White, Asian, etc.

Grid-Iron Gang:Teenagers at a juvenile detention centre, under the leadership of their counselor, gain self-esteem by playing football together. The teen film mainly targets boys with a black ethnic background. as the film is set in Chicago where the black race is highly populated. The Grid Iron gang film also has a target audience of sports men and people who aspire to play sports in the future (not specifically American football) as the main character gets a scholarship to the top university due to his established talent.

High School musical: During the summer vacations a talent show is organised in a local country club and Troy, Gabriella, Sharpay, Ryan, Chad and Taylor take part in it. The high school musical film has a target audience of mixed genders as they go to an ordinary state school in America. They also have a range of ethnicities such as Black, White, Asian etc. this creates big target audience due to the fact that everyone can relate to a character which looks like them.

Teen Film

Genre and convection

Teen films is a film genre that is aimed at young adults and teenagers. The plot is often based upon the special interests of teenagers, eg. coming of age, first love, rebellion, conflicts, alienation etc. These normally address serious subject matters which are often presented stereotypically. Teens films consist of mostly teenagers, which is why they appeal to teens, but they also feature adults eg. teachers, parents and other members of authority such as the police. The majority of teen films usually occur in schools/colleges, their house; or more specifically the teenagers bedroom and hangout spots like a park or mall. Teen films also have subgenres, which is a subcategory within a particular genre, in this case, teen films.

Another teenage movie

From the gif, you can see that the film is set in a school/college, as expected. Another teenage movie features a high school senior branded uncool in the ninth grade and then gets himself expelled so he changes his image to cool kid at the town's other high school. The film involved prom, bets and school and has a subgenre of comedy. Trailer:

The target audience for this would of course be teenagers, mainly teenage girls because it's kind of cliche, however adults may also be interested because of the element of comedy in it.

Thirteen

Thirteen is a film about a girl who is at the edge of adolescence. As you can see from the screenshots, it is mainly set in her house and bedroom and hangout spots like the mall or the park. It is also set in school as well. Tracy is a smart straight-A student- if not a little naive. When she befriends Evie, the most popular and beautiful girl in school, Evie leads Tracy down a path of sex, drugs and petty crime (like stealing money from purses and from stores). As Tracy transforms herself and her identity, her world becomes a boiling, emotional cauldron fueled by new tensions between her and her mother--as well as, teachers and old friends.

The film tackles the issue of drugs, sex, petty crime and peer pressure; many issues teenagers are dealing with.

The film has subgenres of drama and biography and although it is a teen movie, it can appeal to everyone because it is quite hard-hitting and many of the issues tackled are relevant to everyone; not only teens.

Twilight is about a teenage girl risking everything when she falls in love with a vampire. Twilight has subgenres of adventure, drama, fantasy and romance. This is relatable to more than just teens, as shown in our teen movies research video when an adult states that she loves twilight. Twilight is mainly set in school/college and Bella's room however because of it's subgenre, it's slightly different and is also set in forests and fantasy worlds and universes.

Fans waiting for twilight to be released, not only teenagers.

the target audience for this film is mainly for young teenage girls like myself.Georgia Nicolson who plays the main character is a know actress in many films who starred in London to Brighton for example.she in my opinion attracts the audience of females as she plays a young,humorous teenager.this coming of age movie also involves day to day things that teenage girls get up to such as meeting with friends and in some girls cases looking for boyfriends.

Goal is a fun, active and inspirational movie that mainly attracts teenage boys who aspire to become footballers in the future. One character who stars in this film is an ex professional footballer named Allan Shearer this helped to grab many viewers eyes as he was a professional footballer that many youths looked up too.

Kidulthood is an urban cult that is about many teenagers who are age 15 growing up in west London.This film shows different aspects of rural culture that occurs in the majority of the audiences lives such as gang crime and drug abuse.this films target audience is for both male and females specifically teenagers however adults often enjoy this film aswel as it gives them a broader image of the today youth.Adam deacon who is the main character and Jamie Winston both star in this film as pivotal characters and are well known in the public eye to youths and other age categories this widens the target audience of both both male and females as they are both role models in society especially to youths.

Often these normally serious subject matters are presented in a stereotyped or a belittle way. Some teen films appeal to young males while others appeal to young females.The majority of teen films are located in schools more specifically at the school gate for example in Angus thongs and perfect snoging the students are filmed walking into the school gate at the start of a new term.Other locations based in a school are usually filmed in the toilets,corridors and classrooms.the characters found in teen films are often teenagers which is why it appeals to teenagers although anybody can view it and often adults enjoy watching them too as they can be funny depending on the sub genre of the teen film.
